Indrani Mukerjea after release: I just want to look at the night sky

Former media executive Indrani Mukerjea on Friday walked out of Mumbai’s Byculla women’s prison, that is six and a half years since her arrest in August 2015 for the alleged murder of her daughter Sheena Bora. The beaming 50-year-old Indrani was relieved to step out of jail. Indrani stepped out of the jail around 5:30 pm, embraced her lawyer Sana Raees Shaikh, smiled and waved to the media waiting around. Mukerjea, who is facing trial for her daughter Sheena’s murder on April 24, 2012, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Her bail conditions include surrendering of her passport before the special court, not leaving India without the court’s permission, and not contacting any of the witnesses in the case or tampering with the evidence.
