On June 4, 2022, The Rock took to Instagram to show off the new house he bought his mother, Ata Johnson: "I surprised my mom and bought her a new home," he captioned a video of his mother holding back tears while touring her new digs for the very first time. "Took me and my design team eight weeks to get it ready, where she could walk through her front door for the very first time and everything she saw was brand new and a total surprise. I've been lucky enough to have bought her a few homes over the years, but this one is special as she's told me over and over these past few years, 'After a lifetime of traveling, I want this home to be my last. That's my dream.' Mom, there's no greater feeling than to make you happy -- welcome home." He also shared a video of his mom touring her new family room and a clip of her reacting to her new "Smackdown Room," which is filled with her "treasures" -- Dwayne Johnson memorabilia from over the years including posters, trophies, his old football helmet, a wrestling championship belt and more. "This is her favorite room to bring guests to and it's my least favorite because the last thing I want to do is stand in a DJ shrine while people look around … at all the stuff I've done. No thanks," he joked in the caption. According to the New York Post, the A-list actor dropped $3.48M on the six-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom, 4,400-square-foot home in Encino, California.
