Milk Tea is a supremely beautiful cat with the most stunning blue eyes. According to Audrey Khoo, he’s most likely a mix between a Mekong Bobtail and domestic short hair.

To most Malaysians however, they would probably describe him as a Siamese cat, a very popular breed at one time.

Audrey tells FMT that Milk Tea started off as a stray that she and her husband used to feed every night.

“He was a friendly stray and liked being patted on his head. He would also go belly-up when he saw us,” she says, remembering how it was with this four-year-old back then.

However, in November 2019, they noticed that he had injured his back limbs. The veterinarian told him he would require some care before he was back on his feet, and during the process of nursing him back to health, the couple decided to adopt him.

Despite trusting his new forever mom and dad, Milk Tea remains a rather timid kitty to this day – maybe living as a stray had been harsh for him except for the kindness of Audrey and her husband.

“He is extremely timid. Even the sound of someone pulling scotch tape can make him jump. Or my husband coughing and sneezing. He’s even afraid of plush toys that look like him!

“And when it’s time for a bath, he’ll run and hide behind Furry, his feline companion,” says Audrey.

But Audrey believes that deep down inside, Milk Tea has a lot of love to give to those around him. She says he is also super friendly and confident in his own way.

“He is one of the few cats I know that allows strangers to cuddle him.

“And every night, he asks his daddy to pet him, and only after he’s had his fill will he walk to his hammock where he spends his nights.”

During the day, Milk Tea leads a busy life as a house cat. There’s bird-watching to attend to, coupled with the demanding job of scrutinising the lizards who scuttle across the ceiling or up the walls.

For these jobs, he positions himself strategically at the front door and sometimes sneakily plants himself by the window undetected by the subjects he’s monitoring.

“By 2pm or thereabouts, Milk Tea takes a much-needed break. This is when you can find him stretched out in our backyard for his daily sun bath,” Audrey says.

When he isn’t flexing his muscles maintaining security at the Khoo household, Milk Tea likes a game of hide-and-seek when Furry visits.

And then, it’s chow time! Thankfully Milk Tea is easy to please when it comes to food. “He can’t resist freeze-dried food, especially whole quail and fish.”

Here’s wishing you a happy and fulfilling life with the Khoos, dear Milk Tea.
