Covid-19: Six fatalities in Pahang, highest ever in a single day

KUANTAN: A record number of six deaths from Covid-19 in Pahang yesterday (Friday) was the highest in a single-day since the pandemic hit the country last year.

State Health Director Datuk Dr Bahari Che Awang Ngah said Pahang has to date recorded 89 deaths, with 27 recorded between June 1 and June 11 alone.

"Yesterday, Kuantan recorded three deaths involving individuals aged between 35 and 74 years old, Bentong recorded two involving a 66-year-old man and 84-year-old woman while a 44-year-old man died in Jerantut," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile Dr Bahari said 887 positive Covid-19 patients were treated at eight hospitals and six Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRC) in Pahang.

He said till noon yesterday, 21 patients were treated at the intensive care units (ICU) at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan (12 patients) and Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh (nine), with eight needing ventilators.

Pahang yesterday recorded 89 cases which is the lowest in recent weeks after the number of daily cases had surpassed the 200 mark since mid-last month. No news clusters were reported yesterday.
