PETALING JAYA: Those living in areas under the movement control order (MCO) in Selangor will be allowed inter-district travel to get their Covid-19 vaccination, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

“For MCO districts, you will be allowed to cross district lines for your vaccination appointment.

“Just show proof of your appointment on MySejahtera, the website or SMS at district boundaries.

“You will not require a letter from the police, ” the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said in a tweet on Tuesday (May 4).

Khairy’s clarification comes after a total of 268,800 AstraZeneca vaccination slots in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor were taken up in about three and a half hours after registration opened at noon on Sunday (May 2).

Those eligible for the vaccine were required to book vaccination slots from May 5 to June 6 at vaccination centres located at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Ideal Convention Centre Shah Alam, the Universiti Malaya Examination Hall and Dewan Gemilang at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Six districts in Selangor will come under MCO from May 6 to 17, which would, in general, prohibit inter-district travel.

On April 14, the National Security Council (NSC) had agreed to loosen travel restrictions for those who had to bring their family members or dependants for their Covid-19 vaccination appointments.

However, those travelling interstate for the purpose needed to show their vaccination appointment letters to the authorities at state borders.
