#TECH: Lenovo unveils latest innovations to fit hybrid lifestyle at MWC 2022

As adapting to a hybrid lifestyle continues to inspire more intuitive consumer experiences, Lenovo goes all in on smarter innovations and trusted services benefiting daily life.

The company has unveiled a portfolio of innovative new products for consumers and businesses, in conjunction with the annual Lenovo MWC 2022, which include PCs, tablets, and more.

Whether learning from home, working in an office or just staying in to relax, users can level-up their hybrid lifestyle with intuitive features in these innovations.


The all-new ThinkPad X13s was developed in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, and Microsoft, making the X13s the world's first laptop powered by the premium Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 compute platform, running up to Windows 11 Pro.

Hybrid workers, global travellers, field technicians, and front-line workers will relish the light 1.06kg laptop.

"Thanks to our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and Microsoft, we are excited to bring a new generation of work-from-anywhere device with the flexibility, mobility and security that enterprise customers need," said Lenovo PC and Smart Devices' vice president for global commercial product portfolio, Jerry Paradise.

Built with 90 per cent certified recycled magnesium in the top and bottom covers, 97 per cent PCC plastic in the battery Printed Circuit Board (PCB) cover and battery frame, and with recyclable carton and bumpers in the packaging, ThinkPad X13s is designed to consume less energy.

Manufactured using Lenovo's low temperature solder method, the ThinkPad X13s also includes low power 13.3-inch 16:10 display configurations, with touch or Eyesafe low blue light options.


Lenovo also announced the latest additions to its ThinkPad and ThinkVision portfolios.

The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5 is a performance powerhouse designed to delight all users who pursue supreme power for demanding work and high-definition entertainment.

Powered by up to the latest Intel vPro with 12th Gen Intel Core i9 H-series processors running Windows 11 Pro, and available with the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX Laptop GPUs with up to 64GB DDR5 memory and optional dual Solid-State Drives (SSD) supporting up to a massive 8TB, this laptop takes performance to a whole new level for the most demanding tasks.

Introducing a new ThinkPad T16, the company also shared along several updates made to the ThinkPad T series portfolio—ThinkPad T14s Gen 3 and T14 Gen 3 with the ThinkPad T14 being the first model to market a new software-only human presence detection solution using ultrasound sensor technology delivered by Elliptic Labs' AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform.

The new ThinkPad P16s Gen 1 is set to redefine power and portability thanks to its thin and light 16-inch chassis. Both the P16s Gen 1, and the ThinkPad P14s Gen 3 offer a mix of power and performance for professional users-on-the-go.

These mobile machines also ensure reliability and durability with the ThinkShield security suite and MIL-SPEC testing that highly mobile power users need.

This new form factor, like all ThinkPad P series, is designed with engineers, architects, and students in mind, and has a 16:10 aspect ratio display that delivers increased screen space for viewing and creating with extreme clarity. Both workstations will be available in black or an aluminium storm grey cover.

Lenovo also introduced the all-new ThinkVision M14d mobile USB-C monitor. Weighing less than 600 grams, this monitor features a super narrow 14-inch bezel with 16:10 aspect ratio display and high resolution (2240 x 1400) that supports a 100 per cent sRGB wide colour gamut for greater visual fidelity.

The M14d too can act as a USB hub allowing the connection of supported peripherals such as external storage or a smartphone to the unused port.


Continuing the modern design philosophy that has become synonymous with ThinkBook, the new models - ThinkBook 14s Yoga Gen 2 and ThinkBook 13s Gen 4 laptops - feature dual tone colour highlights and exude class with an anodized aluminium exterior and four-side narrow bezels.

According to Lenovo's senior vice president for worldwide small and medium business segment, Eric Yu, the modern workforce is tech-savvy and wants to utilise technology to make a difference.

"ThinkBook is designed specifically to offer intuitive and invisible technology innovations that empower and inspire those who want to play a pivotal role in defining the next reality," he said.

The slimmest ThinkBook yet at just 14.9mm, the ThinkBook 13s Gen 4i at just 1.25kg is a sleek laptop that includes a new ultra-narrow bezel design with a 91 per cent screen-to-body ratio surrounding the 13.3-inch display.

At MWC, Lenovo unveiled its new portfolio of mainstream consumer 2-in-1 convertible and detachable laptops, a tablet, and smart solutions.

First on the list are the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i and Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 convertible laptops. Both models will be offered in two screen sizes options (14-inch and 16-inch) with an optional Lenovo E-colour pen for all life's creative moments.

Stylish and super slim, the IdeaPad Duet 5i debuts popular Windows 11 tablet-centric features on Lenovo's latest 12-inch consumer detachable laptop. This laptop has a Bluetooth keyboard, an added benefit for all Lenovo consumer detachable Windows laptops.

At just 9.45mm, the new IdeaPad Duet 5i is practically perfect for students and multitaskers.

Lenovo has also announced a robust line-up of consumer IdeaPad Chromebooks for the modern home office, classroom and beyond—the new IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook (14", 7), the 2-in-1 IdeaPad Flex 3i Chromebook (15", 7), and the grab-and-go IdeaPad Duet 3 Chromebook (11", 7).

The company also announced an upgraded Lenovo Tab M10 Plus (3rd Gen) Android tablet which supports the Lenovo Precision Pen 2 and enhanced reading mode.

Powered by a hefty octa-core processor with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage​ for superior performance, this tablet runs on Android 12 OS with updates to come.


No announcement is complete without an update on gaming devices. Sharing updates on Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 series, the series now feature more than just a cleaner look and feel.

It is now a sleek, minimalist Windows 11 gaming laptops with up to a 165Hz refresh rate, delivering gorgeous gaming experience and killer quality videos via an entertainment system that's gaming-optimised and packs top-notch performance with an option of up to 12th Gen Intel Core i7 H-series processors or with AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors.

The IdeaPad Gaming 3i and IdeaPad Gaming 3 laptops also offer up to a 16-inch WQHD+ (2560 x 1600) IPS 16:10 display with 100 per cent sRGB colour gamut and 500 nits brightness​.

Crafted with a short, low arch and slim waist with mirrored-textured side-grips, the Lenovo Legion M600s Qi Wireless Gaming Mouse delivers amazing performance, precision, and better ergonomics, providing lasting ambidextrous​ comfort to both claw-grip and fingertip gamers.

With a light weight of just 75g, the mouse delivers a near-frictionless tactical gliding experience with 100 per cent Teflon (PTFE) feet making faster, larger swipes possible so no gameplay action is wasted.
