Real Madrid captains past and present have backed coach Zinedine Zidane after a trying week for the Frenchman.

Zidane was under pressure after Madrid's 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but that was eased as Los Blancos beat Sevilla 1-0 in La Liga on Sunday.

After that match, skipper Sergio Ramos told the television cameras that the dressing room was fully behind their coach, while Casillas took to Twitter to defend his former Real team-mate.

"We are with Zidane, despite previous results," Ramos told Movistar La Liga.

"To talk about other coaches is to lack respect for ours.

"We have to keep our feet on the ground because we know the season is long.

"Here, there's a little drizzle and people are already talking about a crisis."

And Casillas, who played alongside the Frenchman at Real and worked with him when he was an assistant to coach Carlo Ancelotti in 2013-14, wrote on Twitter: "Zidane is the best.

"Some will discuss whether he is lucky [but] there won't be talk of a change on the bench.

"Nor that the club mismanaged by putting faith in a veteran group that could be satiated by success.

"Nor about the youngsters who are the immediate future. Tomorrow, not a peep."
