
Home minister to keep a close eye on foreign worker issue
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said as of Nov 30, there are 1,391,624 foreign workers with valid work passes in the country. He also said between Jan 1 and Dec 4, there have been 404,868 applications to bring in workers and of that some 373,459 have been approved with the remaining 30,410 applications being processed. Despite the approved applications, only around 254,677 workers had arrived. He said that workers might still be held up by other issues outside the jurisdiction of the Immigration Department.
