They were dating for nearly a decade before calling off their engagement earlier this year.

And Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis 'were never going to get married' as sources revealed there were conflicts including their bicoastal lifestyle.

The couple reportedly 'butted heads' and decided to go their separate ways earlier this year, according to Us Weekly.

'They've been separated for months now and there really is no drama. They're handling this like adults,' an insider revealed. 'It's all about coparenting their kids, Daisy and Otis. That's the priority for them.'

Olivia, 36, and Jason, 45, share two children together: Otis Alexander, six, and Daisy Josephine, four.

While there seems to be no animosity now, the former couple endured a bumpy road to get to their current state.

'Of course, there were arguments and fights over career decisions and where to live. Like most couples, they had disagreements, they were bicoastal but Jason loved living in New York and Olivia, who was born in NYC, was leaning more toward Los Angeles,' the source said.

'She was also busier than him at times, which was difficult at times. They butted heads on many occasions and decided it was best to go their separate ways.'

The source added: 'Bottom line: they had issues and they were never going to get married.'

Olivia and Jason dated for nearly one decade and reportedly split toward the beginning of the year.

'It's been amicable and they've transitioned into a great co-parenting routine,' a source told People magazine. 'The children are the priority and the heart of the family's relationship.'

Just two months before their split was publicly revealed, Jason and Olivia enjoyed a jovial day at the beach in Malibu.

She told People in September that she's enjoying 'extra family time' amid the lockdowns due to the coronavirus.

'Being able to put the kids to bed every night and read to them every night is so special and important,' she said. 'Overall, all the extra family time has been the best part.'

The former couple began dating in November 2011 and he proposed to Wilde during the holidays in 2012.
