Months after they were fired by ABC News from their co-hosting duties on GMA3: What You Need to Know , Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are in a “desperate” bid to make a TV comeback.

But after approaching CBS Media Ventures — the syndicate arm of CBS that’s behind Drew Barrymore’s daytime show — and CNN, the workplace lovers are finding it hard to drum up interest.

According to a new report in the New York Post , Holmes, 45, and Robach, 50, have floated various talk show ideas, also meeting with Fox Entertainment and Fox Television Stations.

Earlier this month, Page Six reported that Holmes and Robach have been “pitching a show a la Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos” and that they approached the producers behind The Ellen DeGeneres Show . Other sources claimed the duo are also open to a “TMZ-style gossip show,” with one person saying the pair are telling execs they “can be whatever you want us to be.”

But a TV expert questions their ability to make a smooth transition to the talk show format.

“If they did a talk show, what would they talk about? What’s their expertise — infidelity?” a source questioned.

But the same insider says the couple are eager to get back on the air. “They’d take anything. I think they’d host a game show at this point.”

There’s only thing that’s for certain: “They can’t do news.”

After wall-to-wall coverage of their affair dominated headlines prior to their exit from GMA3 , Robach and Holmes are under the erroneous impression they have reached celebrity status.

“They think they are Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, or Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie,” a source tells the Post . “They think they are superstars. It’s insane. They are not as famous as they think. Nobody is going to watch them. America does not like adulterers.”

ABC fired Robach and Holmes in January after it was revealed that the on-air hosts were having an apparent romantic relationship while both still married.

According to TMZ , Robach and Holmes were accused of “various forms of misconduct,” which one source characterized as “a witch hunt.”

News of their exit came after the Daily Mail published photos of Robach and Holmes cozying up with one another in New York City last November. As rumours began to swirl that the chummy colleagues were an item, ABC quickly sidelined the television personalities.

TMZ reported that Holmes and Robach, who reportedly embarked on an extramarital affair last March after their marriages fell apart, were initially “confused and frustrated why the ABC News brass at first told people internally there would be no disciplinary action, and then the company did an about-face.”

In taking them off the air in December, ABC News President Kim Godwin told staffers their relationship had become an “internal and external distraction.”

But as the broadcaster began its review of the duo’s behaviour, Holmes was accused of engaging in several workplace romances, including one with a woman “13 years his junior” while he was married.

Robach split from her Melrose Place hubby Andrew Shue last summer with the pair finalizing their divorce last week.

Meanwhile, Holmes filed for divorce from his now-estranged wife Marilee Fiebig on Dec. 28.

Now, free from hiding their feelings, the duo plan to let the world know they “are in love.”
