For the first time, Heart Evangelista has responded to a critic calling her "out of touch" and "overprivileged" on social media.

A Twitter user had posted screencaps of the actress' Instagram post where she wore stylish protective gear and wrote, "The out of touch privileged, in the context of race and class, is a problem not only in the U.S., but in the Philippines as well."

Heart retweeted the post and said, "YOU have caused me so much sadness."

"I honesty don’t know what to do about myself.2 days you’ve been at it.I express myself through my art and fashion.I have not done anything wrong .Using my image to create hate is wrong... still I will wish you well.God bless," she added.

In a separate tweet, she continued, "This is me and I will never pretend to be someone I’m not .I will not live my life unhappy no matter how things get .I will fight for what’s right in my heart and I will use all the love I know for a purpose .Life is too short People...you never know."

Heart has been finding herself the subject of online debates as people call her out for her "toxic positivity," "insensitivity," among other things.

In an interview with Jessica Soho, the fashionista and style icon said that her life is not perfect, like people seem to think.

"Porke't nakikita ka nilang maganda 'yung suot mo o porket nakikita nila maganda 'yung bag mo you're living the life. Feeling nila okay ka lang saktan," she said.

"'Masaya naman 'yan eh, kaya kahit laitin ko 'yan wala naman 'yan sa kanya.' [Per] hindi ganon yun eh," she added.

During the interview, she opened up about developing mild depression after losing her twins in a miscarriage, and having anxiety so extreme it caused Burning Tongue Syndrome.

Despite her personal issues and the barrage of online criticism, Heart continues to help other people in her own way during this pandemic.

For the past two months, she has been donating cash and groceries to people who need help. She also sent packs of Vitamin C to guards, Grab riders, and hospital staff.

She also wants to help out students by giving away as many tablets as she can to help them with online schooling.
