Matteo Guidicelli is the epitome of happy and unbothered

Since his controversial PlayStation unboxing vlogs and judging debut on TV5’s “Masked Singer Pilipinas” last year, Matteo Guidicelli has definitely upped his following all the more on the small screen and online, with part-admirers and part-bashers as expected.

As he puts a different hat on for 2021 as host of “Born to be a Star Season 2,” still on TV5, In the Know had the opportunity to ask how he feels about the year that was and what is to come, which you’re all about to read right here.

Chatting virtually with Matt alongside “Born to be a Star” co-host Kim Molina, the popular heartthrob was in a very playful mood. Describing the fun he’s having on set, he joked, “It’s nice coming out of the closet ha ha ha!” quickly adding, “I mean it’s nice to come out and just be honest and have fun on stage specially with a partner like Kim.”

Now we all know Matteo’s a good guy, despite the occasional headlines related to his better half Sarah Geornimo’s family in the past, but very clearly, he’s loosened up a lot over the pandemic with a live and let live attitude.

These days, he takes things quite lightly, so much so that in between our Q&A, he had to check several times if he wasn’t in trouble with his handler yet for supposedly off-the-record stuff he was spilling. Even Kim had to glare at him at one point.

Laughing all through it though, Matteo quipped, “Every night I go inside my closet and cry kasi pinapagalitan ako o!”

All in the name of good fun, he explained, “At the end of the day this is entertainment and we’re coming out here just having a good time. Specially with Covid, everybody’s just home and stuck, just walking around in circles.”

It can be recalled that when Matteo posted his PS5 unboxing vlog a month ago, it quickly hit a million views albeit with more dislikes than likes because of how brutal he was in handling the gadget. Gaming aficionados couldn’t believe how rough he was, ransacking the box to get to the PS5 then playing with it without a care in the world.

Asking if his vlog concepts were planned to be so, Matteo says he just does what’s natural to him every time. He’s very much aware of the backlash over his style but says again, “At the end of the day it’s entertainment, and it’s how people receive that. For me, it’s just about not taking everything too seriously. Life is already difficult to begin with so [what I do offers] a source of happiness, a source of love and a source of good vibes that I also hope to bring to people.”

Catch Matteo on TV5 every Saturday at 7 p.m. as he hosts “Born To Be A Star” with Kim Molina, featuring Star Judges Andrew E, OST Princess Janine Teñoso, Teacher G(eorcelly Sy), Sam Concepcion and Katrina Velarde.
