Katie Coss is the first female executive for the company

Katie Coss takes the wheel as Sean Brock’s Husk successor, Nashville Scene reported this week—and she’s the first female executive for Charleston-based Neighborhood Dining Group.

The Rutledge Hill restaurant’s new executive chef isn’t new to Neighborhood Dining Group or to Husk—she’s been working for the company in Charleston and Nashville for over six years. She had most recently been the executive sous chef and worked under chefs Brian Baxter and Nate Leonard. Born in Oklahoma, Coss attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. and after graduating, interned at a Florida Keys resort before joining Husk Charleston at only 20 years old.

What personal flair will Coss add to the menu? Eater has reached out for comment on what direction the menu might go, but Coss has already stressed that the iconic burger, the spicy fried chicken, deviled eggs, and pimento cheese are all staples that shall remain.

Sean Brock recently took a new role with Husk as “founding chef and culinary advisor” after doubling down on Nashville by stepping away from Charleston-area restaurants to focus on projects here.
