Overhead Squat : Step 1
Step 1 Set the barbell on a squat rack, just under shoulder height. Secure the bar with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
Overhead Squat : Step 2
Step 2 Contract your core, place the barbell at shoulder height, and remove it from the rack.
Overhead Squat : Step 3
Step 3 Step back and position your feet shoulder-width apart with your toes pointed out. Flex your knees and lower your hips slightly.
Overhead Squat : Step 4
Step 4 Quickly drive through the heels and extend your knees to lift the bar overhead. With the barbell overhead, keep a natural arch in your lower back. Your jaw should be parallel to the floor. Your arms will remain locked out throughout the squat motion.

Step 5 Keeping your weight on your heels, descend your hips back and down until they drop slightly past your knees.
Overhead Squat : Step 6
Step 6 Pull the barbell back as you squat in order to keep it directly over your heels. Avoid having the bar move forward at any point throughout the lift.
Overhead Squat : Step 7
Step 7 Press your heels into the floor and extend your hips into a standing position. Control your weight in a slow manner as you flex your hips and lower the weight to the floor.
