Investigators are preparing the complaints against the five policemen who are allegedly involved in the abduction of an e-sabong master agent in San Pablo City, Laguna, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group has said.

In a hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, CIDG Director Eliseo Cruz told senators of the "breakthrough" on the case Ricardo Lasco, one of those who have been taken and since been missing.

“Right now, our investigators are consolidating the sworn statements of our witnesses and other pieces of evidence for the preparation of the filing of appropriate cases against the identified suspects before the Department of Justice,” Cruz said at the hearing, the third hearing on the missing “sabungeros.”

According to the CIDG chief, at least four witnesses who were present during the incident, positively identified the suspects through the photos presented by the CIDG in coordination with the Police Regional Office (PRO) Calabarzon.

“The identified suspects are policemen. They are formerly assigned at the provincial intelligence branch of Laguna police provincial office based in Sta. Cruz, Laguna,” the CIDG director said.

“And the witnesses initially identified five suspects through the photographs of the suspects presented to them by the CIDG in coordination with the PRO Calabarzon,” he added.

Lasco was allegedly “kidnapped” by more or less 10 armed men in his residence in San Pablo City last August 30, 2021, according to the CIDG.

At the early part of the hearing, Cruz said from six cases, the CIDG is now investigating eight formal cases of missing e-sabong enthusiasts, involving 34 individuals. —NB, GMA News
