A 51-year-old woman, who had tested positive for 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19), had tried to escape authorities in San Juan City, a police official said on Friday morning.

San Juan City Police chief Police Colonel Jaime Santos said the woman was about to  be escorted by city health officials, personnel from the city disaster risk reduction and management office, and cops to a Quezon City hospital when she escaped using her own vehicle.

Santos said the COVID-19 patient had fled towards a hospital in the southern portion of Metro Manila.

The San Juan Police then chased the woman until they had reached the parking lot of St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City.

Police then talked to the patient and urged her to come with them. Their “negotiation” lasted for two hours.
