But a Massachusetts man made a startling, and spotless, discovery after someone allegedly broke in to his home just to tidy the home.

Nate Roman, a Marlborough resident, posted about the bizarre incident on Facebook. He said while he was at work, “a stranger entered [his] house” on May 15.

“It’s possible that I forgot to lock the back door, they didn’t break anything while entering,” he wrote, noting that he forgot to activate his alarm and surveillance video system.

Yet the strange part, Roman said, came when he realized the perp hadn’t taken anything.

“The purpose of the visit was to clean my bathrooms and bedrooms. They made the beds, vacuumed the rugs, scrubbed the toilets and left [toilet paper] roses,” he said.

Roman said the only logical solution he can think of is that a housekeeping service accidentally went to the wrong address and was able to enter his home, located about 27 miles west of Boston.

“It’s still weird and creepy AF,” he added, using the acronym for “as f**k.”

After filing a police report, he said the Marlborough Police Department cleared the house.

Commenters on the post were both jealous and creeped out.

“Wow...that’s crazy! I’m going to leave my back door open from now on;-),” one user wrote.

“Hotels don't even do that to toilet paper,” another wrote. “Take the day off and change your locks.”

Calls to the Marlborough Police Department were not immediately returned.
