Announced in January at the CES 2022, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650RX-LB213W) is finally out in Singapore. Claimed to be the world’s most powerful dual-screen gaming laptop, it retails at the glorious price of S$7,998.

The 2022 Zephyrus Duo 16 is powered by AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX Mobile Processor, an 8-core, 16-thread, 20MB cache processor that can be boosted up to 4.9GHz. For graphics, it has a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU, with 16GB of GDDR6 graphics memory and a total graphics power of 165W.

These are supported by 64GB of DDR5 memory at 4800MHz as well as 4TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD in a RAID 0 array. The chassis is said to be smaller than last year’s model, with dimensions of 355 x 265.9 x 20.5mm, and weighs just 2.5kg.

Its 16-inch main screen supports up to 3840 x 2400 resolution at 120Hz. If you prefer a faster refresh rate, setting it to 1920 x 1200 resolution will let you hit at least 240Hz. The IPS-level panel displays up to 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, reaches at least 500 nits in brightness and has below 3ms response time (ROG did not specify how bright and fast it can theoretically reach).

The 14.1-inch secondary screen, the ROG ScreenPad Plus, has a 3840 x 1100 resolution and functions as a touchscreen (with stylus support) for improved multitasking. You can now scan your game walkthrough without Alt-Tabbing from your game or scrolling on your phone. Quality of Life baybeh.

The secondary screen also means the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 has a maximum open range and you cannot go 180° with it. An improvement over previous years’ design, both the screens are designed to look like it is sitting flush with one another at the maximum open range. It still has a weird gap between both screens when viewed from the side.

To cool the energy-guzzling components, the Zephyrus uses Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal, which lets the machine run 15°C cooler compared to using traditional thermal paste.

It has six Dolby Atmos-certified speakers, with a 3D mic array supported by an AI noise-cancellation tech. For ports, you get two USB 3.2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Type-A, one HDMI 2.1, one 3.5mm audio jack, and one MicroSD card reader.

The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650RX-LB213W) retails for S$7,998 at the ROG Experience Store Bugis, authorised retailers and on ASUS Online Store.
