Photo by HyundaiThe manual transmission has endured more than a century of attempts to replace it, but with Hyundai’s recent innovation, things are really getting interesting. The Korean brand’s upcoming intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), which features a row-it-yourself gear selector but no clutch pedal, will debut with India’s Venue crossover SUV, replacing the traditional pedal with an […] The post Hyundai’s new manual transmission, with...

  • A Tesla Catches Thieves Trying To Steal A Porsche 911 By Rolling It Away

I know we have said some pretty salty things about Tesla and Elon Musk in the past, but that doesn’t mean we don’t acknowledge that their cars have some remarkable design and engineering, and some very novel, and, in this case, especially useful features. Like Sentry Mode. While normally this system is designed to detect ne’er-do-wells pestering the Tesla itself with its built-in cameras, this time it helped to foil the theft of an air-cooled...

  • Jay Leno drives a 1968 Bronco with the heart of a 2020 GT500

Photo by YouTube/Jay Leno's GarageWhen I drove a first-generation Ford Bronco, the last thing I wanted while motoring about in the tin-box SUV was more power. It had plenty of giddy-up with the factory 105-hp inline-six, and I could only imagine one optioned with the 200-hp 289-cubic-inch V-8. Jay Leno and I appear to disagree on the appropriate power […] The post Jay Leno drives a 1968 Bronco with the heart of a 2020 GT500 appeared first on...

Can a car or SUV really be considered a Black Edition when it adds bronze trim to the mix? Lexus seems to think so, with the 2020 NX 300 Black Line featuring the color of the precious metal used extensively. Most obvious are the 18-inch wheels with a bronze finish, nestled inside fenders matched to the main body color. Bronze is also used for the stitching on the seats, center console, door trim, and floor mats. Fortunately, the front grille and surround are still finished in black, along with the front fog light surrounds.

  • When one of your cars just has to go … or, on second thought, maybe it doesn’t

Photo by Rob SiegelI currently own 11 cars. There’s our two daily drivers and the Winnebago Rialta small RV, plus the seven vintage BMWs and the Lotus Europa on my Hagerty policy that must be tucked safely in a garage. As I’ve written before, there’s room in my 31×17 shoebox-dimensioned garage to comfortably fit three cars—four over the […] The post When one of your cars just has to go … or, on second thought, maybe it doesn’t appeared first on...
