120 Hours - Week to Wicked 2001 S2000 Day 2

With the fresh AST 5200 coilovers and Energy Suspension bushings installed during Day 1, the next order of business with the AP1 build-up involved our good friends from Irvine, Calif.'s, GReddy.

The decision to incorporate forced induction on our project car wasn't a difficult one. Known to be quite stingy with its return on investment averages once bolt-on bits are introduced to Honda's beloved roadster, rather than struggle to wring 5 or 10 horsepower from the native F20C, we reached for turbo power—and the timing couldn't have been any better. Just a few weeks prior, during the SoCal Eibach Honda Meet, GReddy displayed a revamped version of their long-running S2000 turbo kit.

Much like the original, V2 of GReddy's kit includes everything you'll need to boost your S2K. From the hard parts, like the log-style manifold, intercooler and newly introduced Garrett GTX2867R Gen II turbo, to the ancillary goods, like the brackets, hoses, clamps, right down to 600cc injectors controlled by a GReddy E-Manage system (for AP1, later models controlled by Hondata). The boost levels are kept conservative and the focus on the kit is twofold—outright drivability and C.A.R.B. exemption status.

Our project car has over 130K on the clock, so keeping the boost at a responsible level is key to longevity. With that said, from the looks of the kit and from what GReddy President Kenji Sumino tells us, we should see upwards of 300hp once everything is complete. That's a huge jump for a car that's fun right out of the box, but only checks in at fewer than 200 to the rear wheels.

On Day 3, the team will finish off the turbo kit install with a Profec boost controller and AEM Electronics air/fuel gauge, add a GReddy exhaust system and top off the S2K with fresh fluids from ENEOS.
