Car shows are back! Goodguys kicked off its 2021 schedule in March with the 11th LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals, held at the Texas Motor Speedway near Forth Worth, Texas.

Hot rodders have waited a long time to get together at national events, and the crowds (and hot rods) in Texas turned out by the thousands to fire up the new season. More than 2,400 hot rods, street machines, classic trucks, and cruisers—along with 25,000 spectators—flooded into the Speedway for the first such outing in the region in almost a year. You may not have been able to go, so we've assembled this gallery of photos from the weekend for you to enjoy.

The truck-heavy event featured a classic show 'n' shine as well as autocross competition, swap meets, vendor booths, and the opportunity for participants to run their vehicles on the Texas Motor Speedway's 1 1/2-mile oval track.

Traditionally, Goodguys National events feature '87-and-earlier American-made or -powered vehicles, but a special Old Body Style (1988-98 Chevy and GMC trucks) feature this year drew out more pickups than ever and made for a slightly younger fleet of American steel—a welcome addition given some of the beauties that came out.

On the track, the CPP AutoCross series kicked off with a roar as racers eagerly hit the circuit after a year of upgrading their rides and a whole lot of thumb twiddling. Corey Williams won in the PRO class behind the wheel of his second-gen Camaro, and Brill Graves Jr. took the Street Machine class. Josh Leisinger won the PRO-X class of the Tremec Lone Star Shootout in his '64 Corvette, and his brother Jared took top prize in the Pros vs. Joes Shootout. Brandon Carter was crowned victorious in the Truck/Challenger shootout with his D100 Dodge, and Rob MacGregor won the LMC Truck Shootout on Saturday driving Bill Holt's squarebody Chevy. If you haven't been to an autocross event recently, it's some of the best racing for the money.

The next Goodguys event is the FiTech Fuel Injection Spring Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona, on April 16-18, which will feature more of the same. The Goodguys website lists the rest of the 2021 schedule of events.
