A hazmat spill that shut down all westbound lanes of the 610 North Loop between Hirsch Road and I-69, has been cleared.

The oil spill happened around 4:30 a.m. after an accident involving an 18-wheeler and two other vehicles, which backed up traffic for a few miles.

HPD and HFD asked TxDOT for an assist to clean up the spill, which left the westbound lanes closed for almost five hours.

All lanes have been reopened and the hazmat spill was cleared.
