A large fire damaged a building and a boat at an auto repair and tire shop in Portland on Saturday.

Firefighters said there was a three-alarm fire at Bill's Auto Repair & Tire and hazards and chemicals were a concern.

The building the fire was in was used for storage and classic boat restoration, according to firefighters.

When crews arrived, they said they found heavy fire on one side of the building and it had extended to a large boat that was close to the building.

Tanker trucks were set up to extinguish the fire and at least 80 firefighters responded to the scene.

Crews worked to quickly knock down the bulk of the fire and were able to contain it to its area of origin and close exposures, fire officials said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and continued extensive overhaul to the portion of the building and boat that were involved, they said.

No injuries were reported.

There is no word on what may have started the fire.

The fire remains under investigation.

Editor's Note: Fire officials initially said there was a partial building collapse at the auto repair and tire shop. Our crew at the scene did not see a collapse and fire officials at the scene later said there wasn't one.
