Interstate 84's eastbound lanes are back open in eastern Oregon Monday morning in the aftermath of a crash.

The wreck caused a fuel spill on the highway near milepost 259, just west of La Grande.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, the eastbound side of the interstate was closed for nearly 50 miles. The closure stretched from Exit 216, which is six miles east of Pendleton to Exit 265 near La Grande.

HazMat crews responded to the crash site to deal with the fuel spill, according to ODOT officials. The lanes were reopened at about 2:20 p.m., more than nine hours after the crash.
