Lanes were closed for hours after the Melbourne Beach crash near Sabal Ridge Lane after Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived just before 3 a.m.

According to FHP reports, Kyah Muntz, 19, was driving south in northbound lanes on S.R. A1A for unknown reasons when he struck a car with three people inside.

The driver and one of the passengers — 21-year-old Katlyn Duncan of Tampa and 28-year-old Grant Luker of Orlando — were seriously injured in the head-on collision, according to FHP.

A second passenger, an unidentified 23-year-old Orlando woman, was killed.

Troopers reported that charges are pending against Muntz and investigators are looking at whether the wreck may have been alcohol-related.
