Police are on the lookout for driver who fatally struck pedestrian

SAN ANTONIO – Police are on the lookout for the driver of a Tesla after fatally striking a man walking on the sidewalk and failing to stop and render aid.

The incident happened at Alamo Street and Probandt Street at around 1:25 a.m.

According to police, a 2021 White Tesla Model 3 was traveling east on S. Alamo street when the driver failed to negotiate the curve and went over a concrete island causing the vehicle to strike the victim on the sidewalk. The Tesla stopped after crashing into the west side of a building. The driver quickly fled on foot without rendering aid.

SAFD EMS arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the Tesla will be charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid- Death when found.
