Repairs to Yandell Street are still being done weeks after a sinkhole opened up the roadway.

The water line that broke on August 9 has been repaired and the sinkhole was filled.

However, Yandell Street from Boone Street to Gateway Blvd. South still remains closed.

Crews are working on pavement, according to El Paso Water.

Those crews work for a contractor that El Paso Water hired to replace the rest of the pavement.

El Paso Water is coordinating with the city of El Paso Streets' Department to install a traffic signal.

El Paso Water spokeswoman, Christina Montoya-Halter, explained there will be extensive repairs to the concrete slope and rock wall after monsoon season.

She added that a chain link fence on the south side of Yandell Street is expected to repaired soon.

The overall work to reopen that portion of Yandell Street will take several weeks before all work is completed, according to Montoya-Halter.
