A spokesperson for the actor appealed for privacy on his behalf on Tuesday (August 7) as 48-year-old Perry begins the long road to recovery from a gastrointestinal perforation, according to People.

"Matthew Perry recently underwent surgery in a Los Angeles hospital to repair a gastrointestinal perforation," his representative said. "He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals."

It can also originate from the throat, stomach or intestine.

Prior to his recent health struggles, Matthew has kept busy following the surprising cancellation of his CBS series The Odd Couple after three seasons in the spring of 2017.

He recently reprised his Good Wife role of Mike Kresteva in CBS All Access spin-off The Good Fight, in addition to executive producing and starring in historical miniseries The Kennedys After Camelot.

One thing fans shouldn't expect to see Perry involved in any time soon is a Friends reunion, since he recently admitted that he has actual nightmares about reviving the show. Here's hoping Matthew sleeps like a baby from here, and starts feeling better soon!
