Pix by NURUL SHAFINA JEMENON UALA LUMPUR: Being a pop superstar, Jason Derulo has jet-set his way to various countries in the world, but if there’s one place that reminds him of his hometown Miami, it’s Malaysia.

“Malaysia reminds me of home because of its weather. It’s hot and humid, and Miami is exactly like that. So it almost feels just like at home when I’m here,” said the 28-year-old to the New Straits Times when met at the St. Regis Kuala Lumpur here earlier today.

The Wiggle singer is currently in town to ink an MoU (memorandum of understanding) between him and Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX), a company that helps celebrities cryptonise their popularity by creating their own exclusive crypto.

Derulo is the third celebrity to join the platform, following two other sporting names such as Liverpool and Real Madrid football legend Michael Owen, as well as Filipino boxer and senator Manny Pacquiao.

This also marks Derulo’s second visit onto our shores, having previously performed here at the MTV World Stage in Sunway Lagoon in 2015.

Will the superstar return for another concert? “Well, I’m going to kick off my tour in September, so hopefully we can do an Asian run and come to Malaysia towards the end of the first leg of the tour,” he said.

“It’s always amazing to come to a place where I’ve been very well recevied so I’m grateful for the support throughout the years,” he said.
