Oct. 22, 1942: ‘Now, Voyager’ premieres in New York

The film was directed by Irving Rapper and stars Bette Davis, Paul Henreid and Claude Rains. Based on Olive Higgins Prouty’s 1941 novel of the same name, it is about a repressed spinster who goes through therapy to become a sophisticated and independent woman. It won the Oscar for Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture.
