Michelle Yeoh received the International Star Award, Actress at the Palm Springs International Film Festival for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

The Palm Springs International Film Society announced that Yeoh would receive the award ahead of the awards ceremony on Thursday, January 5.

“Michelle Yeoh is everything in the exhilarating film Everything Everywhere All at Once. In one of the most memorable roles of her career, Yeoh plays Evelyn Wang, a Chinese American woman who is recruited to save the multiverse,” Festival Chairman Harold Matzner said in a press release. “For this film that is a fantastic showcase for Michelle Yeoh, it is our honor to present her with the International Star Award, Actress.”

Yeoh was reunited with her co-star Stephanie Hsu at the awards ceremony. During her acceptance speech, she spoke about the importance of representation.

“Representation matters,” Yeoh said, according to The Sun. “By your choices over the years, you demanded that attention must be paid to other cultures and a larger world of talent. I thank you for that.”
