'Queer Eye' star and his boyfriend of 3 years make it official, plus more celebrity engagements of 2022

By Megan Riedlinger of Wonderwall | Slide 2 of 74: Following months of speculation, country music star Billy Ray Cyrus finally confirmed that following his divorce from wife Tish Cyrus earlier this year, he and Australian singer-songwriter Firerose got engaged. The "Achy Breaky Heart" and "Old Town Road" singer shared the story with People magazine in a piece published on Nov. 16, revealing that he met Firerose -- who's reportedly nearly three decades his junior -- 12 years ago near an outdoor set when he was shooting "Hannah Montana." They became friends, stayed in touch and years later during the pandemic became songwriting partners, they said. Firerose moved to BIlly Ray's Franklin, Tennessee, farm in the summer of 2022 and in August, he proposed without a ring. "Billy looked at me and said, 'Do you, do you wanna marry me?' And I was just like, 'Of course I do. I love you,'" Firerose -- who later designed her own diamond sparkler -- told People. "He said, 'I love you. I wanna make this official. I wanna be with you forever.'"
