Sometimes a movie is so bad we have to turn it off. If we’re in the theaters, that means one thing: walking out.

A recent Reddit discussion asks what movies made us turn the TV off or leave the cinema. Here are the top responses.

The M. Night Shyamalan film starring Will and Jaden Smith was so bad that one theater, in particular, had to issue countless refunds.

A Reddit comment states how the movie theater they worked at was woefully unprepared to handle the influx of refund requests. Despite attempts to dissuade guests, they had no choice but to give everyone a refund due to the number of requests.

Another M. Night Shyamalan movie, this one is arguably even more panned.

Despite the positive response to the Nickelodeon anime, Avatar: The Last Airbender is a different theater experience. It’s universally panned and despised. One fan said that “it was a slap in the face.”

Despite initial buzz for the Netflix movie about Marilyn Monroe, many people were bored and disappointed.

The most common critique is how the movie drags on forever and is filled with pointless scenes.

Son of the Mask

The Mask is a beloved 90s comedy starring Jim Carrey and is adored by fans everywhere.

For some reason, a sequel starring Jamie Kennedy hit theaters in 2005. Unfortunately, it’s nowhere near as enjoyable as the original.

This Reddit comment sums it up perfectly:

15 Films With the Best Endings of All Time: Unforgettable Scenes That Changed Everything

“Most recently, my family and I walked out of Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile. My 6 year-old just wasn’t interested, and we taught her that walking out is normally not ok, but in the case of Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, we were making an exception.”

Despite the return of the original Jurassic Park cast, nothing can save the most recent entry in the franchise.

The third Jurassic World movie goes completely off the rails with a non-sensical plot that succeeds in one thing: causing moviegoers to leave the theater.

Eternals

Many view Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the worst yet. One reason is the ambitious film Eternals.

One moviegoer describes their experience for the opening night showing: they fell asleep and snored so loud someone woke them up. They fell asleep after the twist reveal everyone saw coming a mile away and woke up during the end crits.

Epic Movie

When Scary Movie launched the spoof genre of films in 2000, nobody knew how bad things would get.

2007’s Epic Movie tries to spoof films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, The Da Vinci Code, and more. Instead, it ended up grossing moviegoers out.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Many people love The Fifth Element, so when director Luc Besson was set to return to the sci-fi setting with Valerian, many were excited.

Instead, the movie is an incredible disappointment. One common critique is the film’s casting, which leads to negative on-screen chemistry.

Dumb and Dumber To

One of the funniest comedies ever made, Dumb and Dumber, is guaranteed to have you roll out of your chair laughing.

A highly anticipated sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, results in the opposite experience. One moviegoer mentions they left the theater after the first scene.
