Is Will Smith banned from the 2023 Oscars after slapping Chris Rock?
It’s the moment that shocked everyone watching the 94th Oscars ceremony live and after: Will Smith walked up to presenter Chris Rock — who had just made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith — and slapped him across the face.
Smith later won an Academy Award for portraying Richard Williams in King Richard, but the night was very much marred by that slap.
So if you’re here, you may be wondering: Will the actor be able to attend the 2023 Oscars in person after that?
The answer is no: The Academy banned him for 10 years from the ceremony and other events.
So you won’t see him there this year in Los Angeles on March 12.
