Madonna kicks off VMAs in a butt-baring outfit that has Twitter freaking out
The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards took place Sunday and Madonna, the woman who opened the very first VMAs in 1984 with a performance of “Like a Virgin,” was back to kick things off again. But it wasn’t her arrival that had people talking, it was her departure. After a pre-produced video introduction with Madonna riding in the back of a New York City taxi and describing her move there as a 19-year-old, the MTV icon took the stage to a long ovation before removing a trench coat to reveal a black leather dominatrix outfit. “And they said we wouldn’t last. But we’re still here, motherf***ers!” Madonna said. “Welcome to the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.” That’s when she turned and walked away, revealing much of her butt cheeks. And while the 63-year-old is no stranger to creating buzz at the VMAs, like her 2003 on-stage kisses with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, this time was no different as viewers quickly took to Twitter with their reactions.
