Even in the world of comic books there are the classic "unobtainable pieces." Some, in addition to being rare, are also super expensive. Among superheroes, Superman is the most prized (at least until now).

Super-expensive comics, Superman's #1 sold for more than $5 million

At present, the Superman comic (#1, year 1939) is the highest-valued comic in the world. A valuable copy of it (CGC 8.0) sold for a record $5.3 million.

The comic book is special for several reasons: it is the first in a very long series devoted to Superman and is extremely rare (few units in the world in good condition have been counted).

Super-expensive comics, Spider-Man and Batman chase.

Superman is not only at the top with his first copy from 1939. Action Comics #1 from 1938 (the one in which Superman appears, for the first time, on a comic strip) sold for $3.25 million with CGC 8.5.

Spider-Man and Batman are right behind the DC superhero created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Mind you, their listing is not cheap, so to speak. Amazing Fantasy #15 (Spider-Man's first appearance) travels around $2-$3 million (depending on the condition of the comic book copy) while Detective Comics #27 (Batman's first time in comics) cannot be found, in good condition, for less than $1-$1.5 million. In fact, recently, Captain America has also begun to get noticed. A Captain America Comics #1 (CGC 9.4) was auctioned for $3.12 million .Are they within your reach?
