RIP, Marvel Comics Artist Tom Mullin

The comic book world has lost a talented artist as Marvel has confirmed the passing of Tom Mullin. As the above tweet indicates, Mullin was known for his work on Marvel's Masterworks collections, which collect back issues of tales featuring classic heroes, presenting them to modern readers. Mullin helped to update a lot of this artwork for these collections, and we can see some of his work on "Spider-Woman" above. RIP, Tom Mullin. You can check out a larger overview of some of his work for Marvel over the years by clicking here.

Radiant Black Vs. Blaze Animated Short

The folks at Image Comics are currently in the midst of building out an interconnected superhero universe using "Radiant Black" as the centerpiece. Well, now the comic has made the jump to animation in the form of this brand new short (above), which features a little crossover with another Image Comics series from the past, "C.O.W.L." Could this be a hint at something larger in the future? Let's not get too ahead of ourselves just yet but, for now, enjoy the short in its entirety above. Also, not for nothing, "Radiant Black" is quite good in my humble opinion and if you're looking for something new superhero-related to read, that's a great way to go.

You Can Win This Thor: Love And Thunder Special Edition Xbox

The folks at Xbox have partnered with Marvel to create a pretty unique Xbox Series X, and it's not one that you can just waltz into a store and buy either. As we can see above, the video game company has crafted a Mjolnir-inspired edition of the console tied to the release of "Thor: Love and Thunder." The good news is that you can totally win said console by merely sharing the post on Twitter with the hashtag #ThorLoveandThunderXboxSweepstakes. So, go forth and tweet. Good luck.

Superman & Lois Doesn't Take Place In The Main Arrowverse Universe, Here's Why

Superman & Lois Tyler Hoechlin © The CW Superman & Lois Tyler Hoechlin

The "Superman & Lois" season 2 finale introduced a kind of unexpected bombshell, in that, it confirmed the show does not take place in the main Arrowverse universe alongside "The Flash." So, the show takes place on its own planet and kind of further gets into the multiverse of it all. It's complicated. Recently, showrunner Todd Helbing stopped by "The Flash Podcast" and discussed the situation at hand. Here's what he had to say about it:

"The more we got through Season 1 and the end of Season 2, it's just felt more honest to not have it be on the same planet. I think when all the other [Arrowverse] shows were on at the same time, it was easier to do references like The Flash in Central City and Supergirl in National City... Unfortunately, now that these other shows are no longer going to be on the air, it just didn't feel like it was gonna be rewarding. I'm sure there's gonna be some fans out there that are upset. I totally understand, but I think the decision was just made to keep our show on a different planet and do the best we can."

So, like it or not, the show largely stands on its own two feet. And, as the Arrowverse increasingly looks like it's getting ready to call it a day, in the end, this may not matter all that much. Still, a bit of a curveball nonetheless.

Writer Mattson Tomlin Offers A Glimpse At The BRZRKR Movie Script

Mattson Tomlin, one of the co-writers of "The Batman," is currently knee-deep in his next project, an adaptation of Keanu Reeves' comics "BRZRKR." Netflix was quick to scoop up the rights to the book and the plan is to turn it into a film. As we can see above, Tomlin has offered a teasy little glimpse of his work. In a follow-up tweet in the same thread, the writer also said, "Unhinged and deranged that I've been allowed to write this movie." So we can expect something crazy, that much seems clear. No word yet on how long until the ball really gets rolling but Tomlin is hard at work, that much we can see for certain.

The Flash Is Now The Longest-Running Show In The History Of The Arrowverse

"The Flash" season 8 is in the books and season 9 is on the horizon. However, before Grant Gustin's Barry Allen gets carried away with his next (and presumably last) series of small screen adventures, the show has crossed a very important milestone. The show is now the longest-running in the history of The CW's Arrowverse (per Comic Book Resources) with 171 episodes to its name. "Arrow," meanwhile, the show that started it all, finished its run with 170 episodes. This is one heck of an accomplishment, especially in the streaming age when shows tend to run just a few seasons at best.

Mama's Got A Brand New Hammer From The Thor: Love And Thunder Soundtrack

With the release of "Thor: Love and Thunder" a mere week away, the folks at Marvel have released a brand new track from the movie's soundtrack titled "Mama's Got a Brand New Hammer." This is pretty clearly in reference to Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, who is set to become the Mighty Thor in director Taika Waititi's MCU sequel. The track itself was composed by Michael Giacchino, who is one of the most accomplished composers working today. Check it out above or, if you prefer, it is also streaming on Spotify and you can listen to it there by clicking here.

Check Out This Impressive New Thor: Love And Thunder Poster

Speaking of "Thor: Love and Thunder," artist Matt Ferguson has revealed a brand new poster that he has cooked up for the MCU's latest. This film has had its fair share of colorful and interesting imagery up to this point, but it seems fair to say that this might well be the most out-and-out impressive poster that has been released for the film to date. Both Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder and Natalie Portman's Mighty Thor are featured right at the center, with Korg and Valkyrie also along for the ride. It also boasts the tagline, "Not every god has a plan." The movie is set to hit theaters on July 8.

Netflix Releases First Look At Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie

Lastly, today brings a first look at Netflix's upcoming "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie." This is just one of several different TMNT projects in the works currently but, as the title implies, this will be taking place in the same universe as the Nickelodeon series of the same name. Netflix has had a good relationship with the Nickelodeon folks, having crafted movies for other tunes in the network's library such as "Invader Zim" and "Rocko's Modern Life" as well. The images themselves may be a bit jarring to those who are married/used to the versions of the heroes in a half-shell from the 80s and 90s. This is, decidedly, a different take on the source material from Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie" is set to arrive on August 5, 2022.
