MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - For some college students in Michigan this holiday season, getting a parking ticket could make someone else's day.

Central Michigan University Police are reducing or excusing parking tickets up to $35 in exchange for a donated, non-perishable food item.

The promotion, which runs through Friday, Dec. 7, will benefit the CMU Food Pantry.

Anyone can donate, even if you don't have a parking fine. Citations must be dated Nov. 19, 2018 or later to qualify for the promotion.

In an effort to partner with the CMU Student Food Pantry and those that utilize this valuable service, the Central Michigan Police Department/Parking Services would like to provide a one-week opportunity to drop off items at the CMU Police Department/Parking Services between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through Dec. 7.
