A Thanksgiving tradition continues this year with Food & Friends, a nonprofit organization based in D.C. that provides nutritionally tailored, home-delivered meals to people facing a life-challenging health crisis.

This year Food & Friends volunteers are preparing and delivering 4,030 full Thanksgiving meals with all the traditional holiday favorites – a roasted turkey, dressing and gravy, sides, and pie. Each dinner being delivered serves five people.

Efforts are being focused on helping seriously ill clients and making sure they can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with loved ones.

Although in the past Food & Friends has had 500 volunteers, this year due to COVID-19 safety restrictions only a limited number of volunteers will be working on Thanksgiving Day to prepare meals.

Food & Friends works year-round to provide meals to clients. Their goal is to help their clients feel better, connect them to their community and empower them to manage their illness.
