Every week, Eater Vegas editors weed through tips, emails and listings to bring you the most essential food-related happenings — each and every event listed here is a personal recommendation from an Eater editor, hand-selected because of its intriguing menu, above-the-bar cuisine or drink, or exceptional chef and restaurant involvement.

What: Las Vegas’ third annual celebration of plant-based dining returns to kick off 2020. Presented by Vegans, Baby, this event makes it easy for devoted vegans and anyone considering a plant-based lifestyle to dine out all over Las Vegas. For the month of January, more than 30 restaurants across the city will commit to offering vegan dishes. Participating restaurants include Mott 32, Tiabi Coffee & Waffle Bar, Firefly Tapas Kitchen & Bar, Tacos & Beer, VegeNation, Hussong’s Cantina, and more. Not only does the month-long event give locals and visitors alike a literal taste of veggie-focused dishes, it also benefits animal rescue A Home 4 Spot.

Details: Veganuary lasts for the entire month of January. To learn more about the event and the vegan food scene in Las Vegas, diners can visit Veganuary and Vegans, Baby.


Cookies and Kegs Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Benefit at Sagos Tavern

What: Customers at Sagos Tavern can experience the unexpectedly brilliant combination of Thin Mints and beer at this fund-raising event. Throughout the evening, Sagos Tavern will be pairing four beers with four Girl Scout cookies and raffling off prizes including Golden Knights tickets and gift certificates. The bar will also donate 20 percent of all other food and drinks purchased during the event to Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. Rumor has it there will even be a brand new Girl Scout cookie available to try.

Details: Cookies and Kegs takes place at Sagos Tavern on Fort Apache Road from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20 per person or $35 for two people.

Sake in the Alley at Fergusons Downtown

What: January brings an evening of sake, yuzu, sparkling rice wine, and Japanese cuisine to Downtown Las Vegas. Part educational tasting event, part celebration of community, Sake in the Alley will include blind sake tastings, a tasting menu from chef Dan Krohmer of Hatsumi, food truck offerings from Matsuri, plus live music, and pop-up classes on all things sake.

Details: Sake in the Alley takes place at The Alley at Fergusons Downtown from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $47 for 5:45 p.m. general admission or $57 for 5 p.m. early entry.

Tenth Annual Hillbilly Ball at Remedy’s Conestoga

What: Henderson goes hillbilly at Remedy’s Conestoga’s annual party. Customers can don their favorite denim overalls and order specials on Jack Daniel’s while learning to square dance and taking part in a costume contest.

Details: This free party kicks off at 8 p.m. and is only for customers 21 and up. Beer specials start at $3 and Jack Daniel’s shots will be $5. Costumes are encouraged.

Hofbrauhaus Sweet Six-Stein

What: German restaurant Hofbrauhaus and entertainer Frank Marino join forces to celebrate the beer hall’s 16th birthday. Marino will serve as Bürgermeister (Master of Ceremonies) at this party which will include keg tappings, cake, goulash, and local celebrity appearances from sexy Las Vegas shows including X Burlesque, Chippendales, and Thunder From Down Under.

Details: The party takes place at Hofbrauhaus at 7 p.m. Entry — and cake — are both free. Additional food and drinks will be available for purchase.


All American Chef Battle

What: All American Chef Battle is a nationally touring event that challenges local chefs across the country to compete for culinary glory. The Las Vegas edition of All American Chef Battle will take place at Hofbrauhaus for three rounds in February, allowing spectators the chance to watch the action, try each chef’s cuisine, and vote for their favorite dish, all while drinking Hofbrau Beer.

Details: All American Chef Battle takes place at Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas from 5:30-9 p.m. each night from February 10-12. Tickets start at $10 for one-day general admission. Three-day VIP passes are available for $70.

Taste: A Benefit for 9th Bridge School

What: Chefs gather for an evening of local culinary talent in support of 9th Bridge School, a nonprofit school in Downtown Las Vegas. This event at The Kitchen at Atomic features food and cocktails from Marc Marrone, Jackson Stamper, James Trees, Jen Landry, and Scott Simon, plus live music and a silent auction.

Details: The event takes place at The Kitchen at Atomic from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person. Proceeds benefit professional development, library resources, security, and arts and technology programs at 9th Bridge School.


Hello Kitty Cafe Truck Las Vegas Appearances

What: Hello Kitty fans will want to mark their calendars for this event, which is sure to draw crowds. The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will be rolling through Las Vegas and stopping at the Galleria at Sunset in Henderson and Tivoli Village along the way. The appearances will come with plenty of pink treats and exclusive Hello Kitty merchandise.

Details: The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will be at the Galleria at Sunset from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on February 15 and at Tivoli Village from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on February 23.

The Great Onesie Bar Crawl

What: The concept of a bar crawl is getting a whole lot cozier this February with another round of the Great Onesie Bar Crawl in Downtown Las Vegas. The whimsical night begins at Troy Liquor Bar LV at the Golden Nugget and winds its way along Fremont Street with stops at Bar Prohibition, One Bar, The D Bar, Long Bar, Vue Bar, Gold Spike, Evel Pie, Inspire, Corduroy, and The Nerd Bar. Along the way, bar crawlers can expect photo opportunities, drink specials, DJ dance parties, plus the thrill of being a part of a uniquely weird, and yet very comfortable, event.

Details: Registration for the Great Onesie Bar Crawl is $25 in advance. The event wristband includes entry into all bars, a souvenir cup and other gifts, plus $2 to $3 drinks specials. Check in starts at Troy Liquor Bar at 3 p.m. The crawl continues until 9 p.m.


Beer Zombies Craft Beer Festival

What: Thanks to the success of last year’s event, the Beer Zombies Craft Beer Festival will once again take place at SkinnyFats on Dean Martin Drive. The event promises an impressive roster of craft beer selections including brews from Modern Times, New Glory, Stillwater, Superstition, and more. There will also be healthy and indulgent food options from SkinnyFats, plus games, Vegas Strip views, and a bottle share the day after the event.

Details: The fourth annual Beer Zombies Craft Beer Festival takes place at SkinnyFats on Dean Martin Drive from 3 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 for general admission, which includes a festival tasting glass and unlimited beer pours until 7 p.m. An add-on option for the bottle share is $10.

Las Vegas Smoqued Music Food and Beer Festival

What: This festival brings street food, beer, and live music to Craig Ranch Regional Park for a day of open air merriment. Food vendors include The Crazy Churro, Crabby’s Crab Cakes, Stripcheeze, 911 Taco Bar, and more. There will also be a beer garden with an unlimited beer sampling option. Hinder, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Rebel Soul will be headlining the festival.

Details: The festival takes place at Craig Ranch Regional Park from 1 to 9 p.m. Tickets start at $6 for general admission pre-sale, and go up to $10 after January 22. VIP tickets, which include unlimited beer samples, one food voucher, and access to a special lounge, are $45 pre-sale and $99 after January 22.


10th Annual Great Vegas Festival of Beer

What: The Great Vegas Festival of Beer takes over the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center with 400 different beers from 100 breweries. This year’s event promises to be bigger than ever, with an all-new craft beer experience on Friday, April 3, that brings culinary talent, breweries, and mixologists together for an exclusive prelude to the main tasting event on Saturday, April 4.

Details: Both events take place at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, which is an outdoor venue near Fremont Street. The Mad Craft Experience takes place on Friday, April 3, from 7 to 10 p.m. The Great Tasting takes place on Saturday, April 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $55 for the Mad Craft Experience, $40 for general admission to The Great Tasting, or $50 for 2 p.m. early entry to The Great Tasting. All events are 21 and up.
