Naomi Watts, the Australian actress best known for Mulholland Drive and playing Princess Diana in the poorly received biopic, was out in Mayfair on Sunday night. She dined at 34.

A few blocks away, off Carnaby Street, London Mayor Sadiq Khan was visiting chef Asma Khan at her restaurant Darjeeling Express, in Kingly Court. Asma posted on Twitter that she “asked him to help us spread the word and get more women from south Asian community into hospitality and food business.”

The glittering crowds at the British Fashion Awards on Monday night were treated to a slap-up dinner, but sometimes you just need another evening meal.

Kendall Jenner, model and member of the lucrative Kardashian dynasty, headed straight to McDonald’s on Oxford Street.

Kaia Gerber, however, didn’t fancy a Big Mac. She ended the night at Chiltern Firehouse with Ellie Goulding, Alexa Chung and Poppy Delevingne. Gerber’s mum, Cindy Crawford, had already been seen there the day before with Princess Eugenie and new husband Jack Brooksbank.

Christmas must be coming: Mariah Carey is in town for her festive tour.

The singer was in London this week, staying at Hotel Café Royal in Piccadilly. While there, she was seen dining at its restaurant Laurent — which does steak and sushi — and on Tuesday night ventured to Knightsbridge, where she ate at Mr Chow.

Stephen Merchant, the actor best known for starring in Extras with Ricky Gervais, appeared to be having a very important phone call in Soho on Wednesday. He was seen on the blower while having lunch at Sophie’s on Great Windmill Street.

Len McCluskey, General Secretary of Unite the Union, had an elegant lunch on Wednesday afternoon. He was seen at The Ivy on West Street.

Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. And sometimes a bit of Chinese food does the trick too.

On Wednesday night, the stars of the new Mary Poppins sequel — Emily Blunt, Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer — dined at Park Chinois on Berkeley Street after the premiere at the Royal Albert Hall. But there were a few surprising additions: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was also there, as was comedian Jack Whitehall. They are working with Blunt on a new film.

Not far away, Elizabeth Hurley dined at Scott’s on Mount Street. The actress is something of a regular at the seafood restaurant.
