New camping, parking restrictions in place amid pandemic

As more people head outdoors because of COVID-19 pandemic cabin fever, some outdoor recreation areas are seeing the negative impacts of all the visitors. In Eldorado National Forest, trails and campgrounds are covered with piles of trash. In some spots, the garbage is so overwhelming that it does not fit into the dumpsters. The overflow comes as the forest sees an influx of visitors. The campgrounds at Turlock Lake State Recreation closed on Friday, according to California State Parks, due to the surge in visitors.
