FREEHOLD, NJ - Ramen Nagomi, a New Brunswick favorite specializing in Japanese comfort food, is making a new home for itself in Freehold.

Located at 5 West Main Street, Ramen Nagomi opened earlier this month with a lengthy menu of offerings including gyoza, bao buns and hearty small-batch ramen bowls. Other inclusions are the cucumber sunomono salad, rock shrimp tempura and chicken karaage.

The Freehold location serves as the second brick-and-mortar location for Ramen Nagomi, which first debuted in New Brunswick in 2016. Fanciful desserts such as matcha ice cream and black sesame creme brulee are other highlights on the menu.

According to the businesses’ website, nagomi is a Japanese character meaning comfort, harmony and Japan. The establishment adds that it prides itself on humanely raised, hormone and antibiotic-free meat products and abiding closely to a Japanese philosophy of cooking.

“Ramen Nagomi strives to give you an experience unique in flavors and service,” its website reads. “Our ramen brings warmth with a simple presentation, made with the best possible ingredients … “We are proud to serve Japanese comfort food for all palettes and cravings.”

If you go: Ramen Nagomi is open daily at noon (except Tuesdays). You can reach the restaurant at (732) 630-1101.
