Simmons Prepared Foods is recalling more than 2 million pounds of poultry products that were shipped to eight states, including Arizona.

The products produced from Oct. 21 through Nov. 4 may be contaminated with metal, according to a news release issued Wednesday from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Arkansas-based Simmons discovered the problem during processing.

Products that are subject to the recall have establishment number “P-1949,” “P-486” or “P-5837” inside the USDA mark of inspection, according to the news release.

Some of the recalled products include boneless skinless chicken breasts, whole chickens without giblets, chicken wing sections, whole chicken legs, halal chicken leg quarters, chicken wing sections and chicken tenderloins, the news release stated.

The items were shipped to locations in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

There have been no confirmed reports of anyone having an adverse reaction.

Anyone who has these poultry products is urged not to serve them. They can be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Consumers with food safety questions can call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854). Those with questions about the recall can contact Donald Miller, senior vice president of sales at Simmons Prepared Foods, at 888-831-7007.
