If you're planning ahead for your holiday shopping this season, fair warning: your closest grocery store may be experiencing problems due to current supply chain issues. Especially with holiday items that are in high demand. Publix is one of the more recent grocery stores to set purchase limits for 15 items that are particularly popular around the holiday season.

Publix recently announced a purchase limit for some of their more popular holiday foods including canned cranberry sauce, jarred gravy, and yes, even bacon. These purchase limits are due to current issues in the supply chain and the intense demand for goods during the holiday season.

Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous recently announced the limit of two items per customer for the following list of goods:

Canned cranberry sauce

Jarred gravy

Canned pie filling

Canola and vegetable oil

Cream cheese

Rolled breakfast sausage

Paper napkins

Disposable plates, cups, and cutlery

Bath tissue

Refrigerated snacks (Lunchable type items)

Sports drinks

Aseptic type juices (Capri sun)

Canned cat food (variety packs)

Refrigerated pet food

Given that holiday festivities are surrounded by all kinds of cooking—as well as traveling—these items are particularly in high demand, causing shoppers to panic stock up on them so they don't run out throughout the season, says Dr. Seckin Ozkul, director of the Supply Chain Innovation Lab at the USF Muma College of Business to News Channel 8 on WTTA in Tampa.

Publix isn't the only store subject to supply chain issues. Multiple grocery stores are experiencing shortages including ALDI, Costco, and Walmart. Prices for particular products in high demand have increased, and particular popular items like Nutella and Pringles are among items that have been hard to come by, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Publix locations span seven different states, so if you typically go to a Publix store for your holiday shopping, make sure to take note of these purchase limits and plan accordingly.
