Chester County Hospital celebrates Heart Month with cooking demo from celebrity chef
Mar. 20—WEST CHESTER — February was American Heart Month, and to celebrate and spread awareness, the Chester County Hospital (CCH) Community Health and Wellness team hosted a live heart-healthy cooking demonstration with celebrity chef and author, Eric Theiss. During this hour-long event, Theiss, who has long showcased cooking equipment and his cookbooks on well-known shopping networks and morning shows, demonstrated how to make a complete Mediterranean meal using only an air fryer.
The Mediterranean diet is a heart-healthy eating plan based on the traditional cuisines of Greece, Italy, and other countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. It offers a variety of health benefits that include reducing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and depression, along with promoting better mental and physical functions.
The evening event had over 70 attendees tune into the live-streamed demonstration to watch and learn how to make three heart-healthy recipes:
—Air-fried rubbed salmon with pomegranate salsa
—Heart-healthy salad and dressing
—Ricotta lemon dessert
"Chef Theiss is a dynamic individual whose infectious laugh instantly puts everyone at ease. We appreciate that he emphasized the heart-health benefits of his delicious recipes, and wehope to work with him again in the near future!" stated Chad Thomas, Community Health Education Coordinator at CCH.
