Number of Coffee Shops Set to Decline for the First Time in a Decade, Says Report

The coronavirus pandemic has completely altered America's business landscape, and that's true for coffee shops as well.People are still drinking coffee, but many of the rituals around the beverage have changed.In fact, this year is slated to be the first since 2011 when the number of coffee and tea shops in the U.S. will decline.The Euromonitor International suggested that 7.3% of coffee shops will have closed by the end of 2020.And concern is growing that local cafes could suffer disproportionately, possibly giving way to national brands.As it turns out, chains simply have more resources, and that should allow them to ride out this storm.At the end of the day, these local closures mean we may see more of Starbucks and Dunkin' after the pandemic is over
