Venezuela Opposition Says Ballot Sheet Unfair For Oct. 15 Vote

On Friday, Venezuela’s opposition said that the pro-government election board was seeking to change regional elections to favor of President Nicolas Maduro’s by including the names of candidates defeated in primaries on the ballot. After protests that led to at least 125 deaths and failed to remove Maduro earlier in the year, the opposition shifted its focus to the elections for governors of Venezuela on October 15. The Democratic Unity coalition is looking to win 18 governorships out of the 23, but fears a confusing electronic ballot sheet could hurt its vote.
