Calorie Targets

You may need more or fewer calories per day than the target shown. Targets are estimated based on profile information you enter, such as your sex, height, age and activity level. Many experts recommend no fewer than 1,200 calories per day for women and no less than 1,800 calories per day for men. Consult your doctor before undertaking a diet program.

Nutrient levels are drawn from the Dietary Reference Intakes reports of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS). When Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) are not available, Adequate Intake (AI) may be displayed..

The NAS sets RDAs to meet the needs of almost all healthy individuals (97 to 98 percent) in a group. The AI is used when there is not enough evidence to determine RDA with confidence, and is recommended based on observation of seemingly healthy individuals. Tolerable Upper Limit (UL): The maximum level of daily nutrient intake that is likely to pose no risk of adverse effects. Unless otherwise specified, the UL represents total intake from food, water and supplements.
