Although it may have decreased quite a bit, the coronavirus (now officially known as the COVID-19) is still very much a real threat to the general public, and there is still no vaccine to be seen anywhere. But you don’t need vaccine to keep yourself safe from the virus since there are simple steps that you can and can’t do in order to make sure the deadly virus is kept at bay. Here they are:
- Do learn all of the symptoms of the virus, which is actually similar to flu. This means that it includes shortness of breath, runny nose, fever and cough.
- Don’t wear a mask until you’re sick yourself. Wearing one when you’re healthy won’t really do much, and with shortages happening worldwide, it’s better to just leave the supplies to people who need it more.
- Do wash your hands several times throughout the day. Also make sure that you use either alcohol or a hand sanitizer after. Also wash it before eating and after going to the bathroom.
- Don’t touch your mouth, eyes and nose if you feel like you’ve been into contact with someone who potentially has the virus.
- Do take some extra precaution if you’re over 60 years old or have a condition since this means you have a higher risk of catching it and making things worse.
- Don’t travel if you have a fever. If it can’t be helped, exercise extra precaution, and make sure you don’t cough or sneeze near people without covering your nose and mouth properly.
- Do consider first before traveling to affected countries. In fact, CDC itself advises people to not travel to China and South Korea at the moment if it’s just for leisure.
- Don’t hangout near your family and friends if you feel like you might be infected. The best way to protect them, after all, is to make sure you don’t spread the virus anywhere else.
- Do prepare at home by having a supply of medicine, which can include over-the-counter pain relievers, disinfectants and prescription medication.
